Werkout Wednesday: Fuel Yoga Workouts

March 13, 2019

Happy Werkout Wednesday everyone! I'm so excited for this week because I will be reviewing one of my favorite workouts...hot yoga!

Now I know there are a lot of mixed feelings out there about different styles and types of hot yoga and some people love it and others think it's crazy. I have been taking hot yoga for almost ten years now and teaching it for four and really love it. With that said, I don't think every hot class is for everyone. I think you have to shop around a little bit and see which style and studio suits you.

Although I teach hot yoga on a regular basis (and will probably do another review on the studio I teach at) I wanted this one to be an unbiased opinion. So I tried out Fuel in Portland, Oregon and was incredibly impressed! The flow was amazing, challenging and sweaty in the best of ways! So read further to get my opinion on this hot yoga class.

Also please remember to message me your suggestions on Inclusion Health's Instagram and Facebook and check out that space for all the photos and videos of our werkouts. Can't wait to hear from you!

Location: Portland, Oregon: Downtown (from what I could tell online this is their only location)

Description: I took their Fuel Flow class which was a vinyasa yoga class so we were moving and breathing at a rapid pace. It also had a lot of core work and strength training!

Level: Moderate-Advanced: I wouldn't recommend this class to a complete newbie to yoga or hot yoga. It was incredible for someone who is somewhat experienced but I think it might move a little too quickly and be slightly overwhelming for someone just starting out. But for those of us that have been doing hot power yoga for a little bit, this was AMAZING!

Geared Towards: Lovers of sweat, strength, endurance and yoga! I always say that power yoga is the best gateway drug. For yogis wanting to get a little bit more work and fitness from their practice this is great. For people who are gym or workout junkies who want to incorporate some yoga into their life, this is a great place to start. Either way, you are getting the best of both worlds.

What I Loved: The flow, the music and the instructor! This was a challenging, interesting and really well put together flow. For those of you just starting out, that means that the yoga postures "flow" from one to another in a way that the body really likes. It allows your to breathe and challenge the right muscles while feeling really good in your body. The instructor had amazing positive energy and her playlist of cool, groovy music was exactly what I needed. PLUS the studio has these really pretty color changing lights that create an amazing ambience! Check out the video on our Instagram to see what I mean!

What I Would Improve: Honestly not a whole lot. However, the front desk space and entrance into the studio is small and very crowded. It makes for a slightly jarring experience pre and post yoga. But the staff was nice and friendly so that helped the situation.

The Studio: This place is located in downtown Portland but I wish there were other locations! As I said before the inside of the studio has cool LED lights that change colors with the mood of the class. It really makes for a full sensory experience. The staff was really friendly and great and the instructor was too. The only thing I didn't like was that it was a little sweaty and smelly but that tends to come with the territory of a hot yoga studio.

How to Access: I signed up for this class on Classpass. Ya'll know by now I'm a big class pass fan! So if you live in Portland or are in Portland for work...you should definitely check this place out!

Now head on over to our Instagram and Facebook pages to watch my story of me sweating my booty off in this rad yoga class! Anyone who thinks yoga is "just stretching" think again! Power heated vinyasa will kick anyones butt in the best of ways!
