Werkout Wednesday:Long Walk

Happy Werkout Wednesday!!

Hope you all are enjoying the holiday season! If you're anything like me this is definitely a time of year that doesn't lend quite as much time to hitting the gym or the fitness studio and often times it feels a little hard to sneak in workouts in between holiday parties and family visits. That is why for this week's Werkout Wednesday, I decided to take it back to the basics and discuss one of my absolute favorite workouts. That is a goooooood, loooooong walk!! This is such a good way to get your body active, get your mind clear and get some nice fresh air. Also, this is a great way to spend time with your friends and family this holiday season by getting out together on a nice, casual stroll. So lets talk more about it!

Also, please make sure you are following Inclusion Health on Instagram and Facebook for all the photos and videos of our werkouts. And PLEASE send me a message with your suggestions for new workouts. I travel all over the place so studios or techniques are always welcome! Email or DM us on social media because we cannot wait to hear from you!

Location: Anywhere and Everywhere

Description: This seems pretty self explanatory but you just put one foot in front of the other. Maybe you are going from one place to another and instead of taking a car or a train you just take your own two feet instead. Easy as that.

Level: Any! You can make it as easy or as challenging as you want. Go on a nice flat walk if you're just starting off on your fitness journey. Or if you want a little more of a challenge pick up the pace or find some hills or mountains to walk up and down. You can make your walk long or short. This is completely up to you how challenging or how relaxing you want your walk to be.

Geared Towards: Just about anyone. If you can walk then walk. If you can use a cane or assistive device then use that. Whatever works for you is exactly right. The whole point of this workout is to get outdoors, clear your mind and take in the sights and enjoy the outdoors. Whatever you level of fitness is, this is a great way to feel healthier and happier.

What I Loved: My favorite part of this walk was that I could enjoy the sunshine and take in the fresh air and beautiful views of the bay near my house. I also loved just having time to myself to think and have moving meditation. I listened to an awesome podcast called Breakup With Your Bulls*** and stopped a few times to journal and to think. I was able to clear my mind and get new and unique inspiration for upcoming projects and areas of my life that I want to improve. It was pretty magical I must admit.

What I Would Improve: Honestly, nothing. As long as you have a comfortable pair of shoes on, you really can't go wrong with a walk outside as a great means of getting fit and healthy.

How to Access: Put on some comfy shoes, check the weather, dress accordingly and head out your door. :)

Now head on over to our Instagram and Facebook pages to watch my story of taking class! The best part is that you can walk by yourself or with loved ones, with your pets or with your children, with coworkers and clients and just about anyone and everyone in between. A good walk is great to get the body moving but it also gets the mind moving and that can benefit everyone. So go on, get out and take a walk. And please tag or DM Inclusion Health with your pictures and videos so we can see your long walks too!
