About The Event
Our brave veterans often return home to a life and mental state that they are unfamiliar with and are left with traumatic memories from their time of service. This heartbreakingly leads to staggering numbers of PTSD and suicides. According to WuddyBuddy's website figures released in 2017 show the suicide rate of veterans was 50% higher than the general public. In 2017 alone veterans counted for 13.5% of all US suicides and an average of 16.8 veterans committed suicide every day. We here at Inclusion Health, alongside WuddyBuddy, want to show that there are other ways to cope with stress, anxiety, depression and other forms of PTSD.
Whether you are a veteran yourself or a family member/loved one of a soldier, this event is for you! This yoga-fitness fusion class will teach you breath techniques to mitgate stress and yoga postures that will help to still your mind and body. Did you know that warriors have practiced meditation and yoga for centuries in preperation for battle? That goes for battles of the mind too. Thats right, yoga is not all green juices and spandex pants but it has been serving the fierce and the brave for hundreds of years.
This is an event near and dear to our heart, as the founder of WuddyBuddy, Jaye VanBoening is a veteran himself who has come out of his experience with PTSD successfully and we are thankful he is alive today. This is not only an opportunity to learn techniques yourself but 75% of all proceeds will go directly to Military Warrior Support Foundation which provides programs that facilitate a smooth and successful transition for our nation’s combat-wounded heroes, Gold Star Spouses and their families. Their programs focus on housing and homeownership, transportation assistance and leadership development for veterans.
