If you deal with stress, trauma, or other mental health issues, this event is designed for you! And in our world today, who doesn't need a little help with mental health? This event is a come as you are, welcome to anyone, safe place to explore and learn more about how to cope and move past mental and emotional blocks.
Kaitlyn Pennington, founder of Inclusion Health and 300 hour RYT will be leading a yoga-fitness fusion class specially designed to help expell emotion through the body. This will be followed by a joint meditation by Kaitlyn and Dr. Brittany Dafesh, Clinical Psychologist (PSY 30516), which will use tools to mitigate and regulate these mental and emotional issues. The event will close with a talk and Q&A with Dr. Dafesh. The talk will focus on the biosocial theory of behavior (why we are the way we are and do the things we do), how our minds trick us through use of neural network short cuts, and ways we can increase our awareness and cope adaptively through life’s challenges. Dr. Dafesh’s talk will explore theory and tools from Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), two modalities that Dr. Dafesh uses in her practice.
