We're back and we're going big! Werkout Wednesday is here and I'm going to discuss one of the biggest and most well known workouts in the country! It may or may not be a cult, but it's a healthy one, so I might just be willing to drink the electrolyte rich kool-aid.   

Whether you LOVE...ok let's be real....borderline are obsessed with SoulCycle, or if you are terrified to try it, I think it's safe to say, you are not alone. SoulCycle has taken your basic exercise bike and turned it into the most exclusive club in town. With this has come a very big reputation and I think its time I share my experience with one of the hottest tickets in the fitness world.

​Happy Werkout Wednesday everyone! I'm so excited for this week because I will be reviewing one of my favorite workouts...hot yoga! 

Now I know there are a lot of mixed feelings out there about different styles and types of hot yoga and some people love it and others think it's crazy. I have been taking hot yoga for almost ten years now and teaching it for four and really love it. With that said, I don't think every hot class is for everyone. I think you have to shop around a little bit and see which style and studio suits you.

Although I teach hot yoga on a regular basis (and will probably do another review on the studio I teach at) I wanted this one to be an unbiased opinion. So I tried out Fuel in Portland, Oregon and was incredibly impressed! The flow was amazing, challenging and sweaty in the best of ways! So read further to get my opinion on this hot yoga class.

Werkout Wednesday is HERE and I can't wait to talk about one of the most loved...and hated...workouts of all time: RUNNING!  

Think about it, humans and our distant ancestors have been running for as long as we have been around. If you want some more interesting facts and insight into running I highly recommend Christopher McDougall's book, Born to Run. Running is something so primal, something that connects us to the rest of the animal kingdom, something that was done out of necessity and survival.  

So why is it so hard?! :D

There are runners, there are people (like me) who try to run but just don't always love it and there are people who you could not pay enough to run around the block. My point is, for something that we all were technically designed to do, there are a lot of strong feelings towards this whole running business. Let's talk about it!

Sleeping while traveling is tricky. We all know that sleep is a huge influencer of our health and jet setting can often take its toll on our oh so precious ZZZs. It is impossible to maintain a busy travel schedule without getting deep and valuable sleep. I have rested my head down under the stars in the Sahara Desert, in the mountains of Patagonia and in a treehouse in the Amazon Rainforest. And while these places are amazing, they don't always lend themselves to deep and uninterrupted sleep. I have slept in more hotels, hostels, airports and airplanes than I will ever be able to count. Whether it's for fun, for work or even for love since a date night with my boyfriend means a 10 hour flight to a different country, I am constantly trotting around the globe. Given the fact that some months I only spend one or two nights asleep in my own bed, I have had to come up with a steadfast routine to help me  get those valuable hours of shut eye. Happy Happy Werkout Wednesday!!

Have you ever tried a workout class and felt completely silly or uncoordinated? Yep, me too! Like a lot of times!! Has that scared you away or left you wanting to try harder and get better? This week I went and did a pilates reformer class at Bodyrok and I must admit that my usually coordinated self felt pretty ridiculous. But the important part was that I still had fun, I still moved my body and was sore the next day. It is important to remember that there is no harm in feeling a little confused. So read on for my whole run down of my experience at Bodyrok and let me know what types of workouts make you feel a little silly or out of your comfort zone.

A Very Happy New Year to Everyone!

The new year is a a perfect time to start fresh and recharge. It is a blank page that you get to fill with your new goals and aspirations. I don't know about you, but for me there is a lot of emotion that is connected to the new year. As one year comes to a close, you think of all you've gained but also what you have lost, what you have accomplished but also what you didn't quite attain and it seems to be exciting to start fresh but also a bit scary. For me, I find that the holidays and the end of the year actually bring about some darker feelings and some sense of being overwhelmed by it all. But as today has come about and I look at the beginning of January and a whole entire year in front of me, I feel like the possibilities are endless. Although, it still feels a bit intimidating, kind of like moving or traveling somewhere new, heck even like trying a new workout, where the uncertainty comes from the unknown. But that is also where the magic lies....

Happy Werkout Wednesday!!


Hope you all are enjoying the holiday season! If you're anything like me this is definitely a time of year that doesn't lend quite as much time to hitting the gym or the fitness studio and often times it feels a little hard to sneak in workouts in between holiday parties and family visits. That is why for this week's Werkout Wednesday, I decided to take it back to the basics and discuss one of my absolute favorite workouts. That is a goooooood, loooooong walk!! This is such a good way to get your body active, get your mind clear and get some nice fresh air. Also, this is a great way to spend time with your friends and family this holiday season by getting out together on a nice, casual stroll. So lets talk more about it!

Hello, hello from one of my favorite cities in the US of A,

AUSTIN, TEXAS!!! 

The food here is delicious, the live music is impressive, the drinks here flow freely and everyone keeps up with this fun lifestyle by keeping active and in shape! I have spent a lot of time here in Austin and absolutely love it!! Full disclosure, I even tried to date around here for awhile so that if I met someone I would have a chance to move here. Shameless, I know. Worth a try for a great city though. But now that I'm a few years wiser and more mature (maybe), I come here to enjoy the food, the fun and of course the fitness! 

This week I am in Austin for a Yoga Medicine training focused on women's health. It is so interesting and if you have been following me on Facebook or Instagram...which I very much hope you are...then you'll get a sneak peak into all the Traditional Chinese Medicine I'm learning that I can't wait to share with you in the future. Buuuuut in the meantime I want to tell you all about...
